Slipper Orchid

Paphiopedilum hirsutissimum,
Gouache
by Mindy Lighthipe
Mindy Lighthipe specializes in Botanical and Natural History paintings. In 2009 she received a Silver Medal from the Royal Horticultural Society for her series “Symbiosis - Plants and Butterflies”. “Mindy Lighthipe’s work is reminiscent of 18th century artists such as Catesby and Marie Sybilla Merian. Her insects are fantastic,” stated the Royal Horticultural Society Jury Committee. In the fall of 2010 the Florida Museum of Natural History will present a solo exhibition of 25 of Mindy’s “Symbiosis” paintings.

A catalog of the artwork and profiles of the artists is available online from the ASBA for $20 plus shipping & handling. http://www.amsocbotartists.org/ASBA-Catalogs.html
